A comparison of the radiographs of 59 subjects who had misplaced maxillary canines has been undertaken. The purpose of this study was to see if the position of the canine as seen on a P.A. skull radiograph is comparable with the position of the canine on an orthopantomogram. The results of the study show that there are similarities in the position of the canines as seen on the two radiographs. Where there is a variation between the two films, there is a tendency for the canine angulation to be increased on the orthopantomogram. The misplaced canine also appears further away from the midline on the orthopantomogram.
