 American Orthodontic Society...

The American Orthodontic Society (AOS) recently received the approval of the American Dental Association (ADA) as an ADA Continuing Education Recognized Provider(CERP). Approval by the ADA requires applicants to successfully meet stringent ADA standards and requirements. "ADA approval is significant because many providers seek ADA approval, but fail to receive CERP status", says Tom Chapman, executive director of the AOS, a Dallas-based organization that provides members with instruction in the orthodontics field. "We are honored the ADA has recognized the American Orthodontic Society as an exemplary provider". Founded in 1975, the AOS is the largest association in the world of general and pediatric dentists who include orthodontics in their practices. Today, it has more than 2,100 members. The AOS sponsors courses that train general and pediatric dentists in orthodontics, offering basic and advanced courses. The organization also has a charitable foundation that works with dentists and dental suppliers to provide treatment to patients in need.

"For general and pediatric dentists, including orthodontics can greatly enhance the scope of their practice and increase their patient base. Our courses can help dentists expand their practice", says Chapman. "It is also important for patients and parents with children undergoing orthodontic treatment to know that a dentist who has undergone AOS course work has received exceptional instruction".
