A new book aimed at undergraduates, general dental practitioners and neophyte orthodontic postgraduate students. As the title suggest, this book is designed to be used to test knowledge, although the answers' section occupies the second half of the book. Hence, there is a lot of information to be derived from a careful reading of the answer section. This feature gives the book its appeal. It is not the usual true/false format. In most cases, the trigger material is a clinical photograph. These are of uniform high quality; indeed, the only poor quality illustration is a very grainey maxillary occlusal radiograph that has not reproduced well. The questions that are associated with the illustrations are of the type that requires a few lines in response and so, in that sense, it is difficult to give oneself a score'.
It is a comprehensive book, which will be valuable for dental undergraduates who are looking for revision material, and for VTs and GDPs, who need that little extra beyond undergraduate level.
Whilst the price may seem rather high for such a small book, the overall quality of colour, photos and explanations in the answer section make this good value.
